- Design review and report finalisation with faculty feedback
Programme StructureWeek-by-Week Schedule
Week 1
Project Setup & Building Modelling
HAP installation, project configuration, complete building envelope input, zone setup, occupancy schedules, ventilation requirements, and shading data. You leave Week 1 with a fully configured HAP building model ready for load calculation.
Week 2
Block & Zone Load Calculations
Block and zone cooling and heating load analysis, ESHF and ADP determination, supply air flow rate calculation, latent / sensible breakdown, design day selection, and full HAP calculation report reading and interpretation.
Week 3
System Sizing & Equipment Selection
Using HAP outputs to size and select AHUs, chillers, cooling towers, and VRF systems. Equipment schedule preparation and the connection between HAP load results and downstream duct and pipe sizing.
Week 4
Energy Analysis & Live Project
Annual energy simulation, system comparison, ECBC compliance, professional report formatting, and one complete live project — a full HAP analysis for a commercial office building, from building input to final client-ready report with faculty review.
Graduate OutcomesWhat Our Students Say
HAP is asked for in literally every HVAC design job posting in India. Four weeks to master it — using real hospital and office building projects — was exactly the efficient, targeted training I needed. I updated my CV with HAP proficiency the week after completing the course and had three interview calls in the same week.
Mechanical Engineering Graduate — 2023
HVAC Design Engineer, MEP Consultancy, Chennai
I had been doing HVAC load calculations manually for four years. This course showed me how HAP handles the same calculations more accurately, faster, and in a format that clients and project managers immediately recognise as professional. The energy analysis module was an unexpected bonus — I now use it on every project to justify system selection decisions.

Common QuestionsFrequently Asked Questions
Is Carrier HAP software free?
Yes — Carrier HAP is available as a free download from Carrier’s website with an evaluation licence. This is genuine, full-functionality software — not a limited demo. We guide all students through installation and project configuration at the start of Week 1. This is one of the significant advantages of this course: you can continue using the software after completing the course.
Do I need prior HVAC load calculation experience?
A basic understanding of HVAC fundamentals — heat transfer, psychrometrics, and cooling load components — is helpful. A B.E. / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering provides this background. If you are completely new to HVAC design, we recommend the 6-month HVAC Design & Execution diploma, which covers fundamentals and Carrier HAP together in a structured progression.
How does this course relate to the HVAC Design & Execution diploma?
The HVAC diploma covers Carrier HAP across 4 weeks within a broader 24-week programme that also includes psychrometrics, duct sizing, chilled water design, VRF, AutoCAD drawing production, and commissioning. This 4-week standalone course is for engineers who already understand HVAC fundamentals and need targeted, intensive HAP proficiency — not the full diploma curriculum.
What certificate is issued?
KVRM Certificate of Proficiency — Carrier HAP HVAC Load Calculation. A professional skills certificate from a practising engineering consultancy. Carrier HAP is the most widely cited HVAC software on Indian job postings — this certificate signals to hiring managers that you have been trained to working industry standard.
Is this course relevant for Gulf HVAC roles?
Yes. Carrier HAP is used across India and the Gulf — UAE, KSA, Qatar, and Oman MEP consultancies regularly specify HAP-based load calculations. The course covers ASHRAE 62.1 ventilation requirements and ECBC compliance — both directly applicable to Gulf market practice. Several KVRM graduates from this course are now in Gulf HVAC design roles.
